Quorum was founded on a straightforward observation: the two skills a professional community needs to thrive have never, in practice, existed in the same person. We were built to change that.
Every professional association and alumni network we worked with had the same problem. They had a community platform. They had members who had asked for it. And they had a volunteer — usually someone in the membership team with three other jobs — trying to keep it alive in their spare time.
The result was always the same: a low-activity community, an embarrassed membership director, and a board wondering whether the annual subscription fee was actually worth anything.
The fix was obvious. What was missing was not enthusiasm or intent. It was the combination of two specific skills that very rarely sit in the same person: the sector credibility to engage senior members, and the digital fluency to run a modern community platform natively.
Quorum was founded to pair those two skills deliberately, for every community we manage.
The sector credibility gap. A junior community manager, however talented, cannot hold a credible conversation with a 30-year fellow of your institution. They will not earn the trust that makes senior members engage, contribute, and bring their networks in.
The digital fluency gap. An experienced practitioner from your sector will not, in practice, build and run the technical infrastructure that makes a modern community work at scale. Onboarding workflows, analytics dashboards, platform migrations — these require a different kind of fluency.
Not a team. Not an agency with a rotating cast of account managers. A named pair, two people who know your community, assigned from the start and accountable throughout.
Carries the professional background your community is built around. Writes the member-facing content in the right register, leads your quarterly reviews, and holds the relationship with your board. Your members deal with someone who speaks their language because they have spent thirty years speaking it professionally.
Brings to your community
Runs everything that makes your community technically functional. Member onboarding, platform administration, content scheduling, event logistics, analytics and engagement reporting. Natively fluent in Discord, Circle, Mighty Networks, Slack, LinkedIn groups, and Heartbeat — not learning them, running them.
Brings to your community
We do not measure success in post counts or emoji reactions. We measure it in member retention, renewal rates, and the number of senior members who list your community as a reason they stay.
We do not sell one platform. We assess your members, your use case, and your resources, and we recommend the platform most likely to work. Sometimes that is the one you already have, managed better.
Every monthly report is written for a membership director or chief executive to read and understand without a guide. If we cannot explain what is happening in your community clearly, we are not doing our job.
Quorum was incubated through InterGen, a social venture that pairs unemployed professionals over 50 with unemployed 18-to-30-year-olds to build new online service businesses together.
The pairing model is not cosmetic. It is the business logic. The two skills Quorum is built on, sector credibility and digital fluency, are the precise skills the InterGen pairing produces. We are a concrete example of what that model creates in practice.
Quorum is an independent trading business. InterGen is our origin, not our parent. The communities we manage are our clients, and we are accountable to them for the results we deliver.
The community management market has a basic mismatch: the people who know professional sectors do not run platforms, and the people who run platforms do not know professional sectors. Quorum was built specifically at that gap.
